Affordable Dental Insurance – the Pro’s and Con’s of Dental Insurance

Are you looking for an affordable dental insurance plan for yourself or your family? It’s hard to determine which is the best plan, isn’t it? Many people are confused about buying dental insurance because they’re not sure if it’s a better plan than a discount dental plan or exactly what it covers. Let’s take a brief look at both plans.

Discount Dental Plans

Discount plans offer reduced costs on most dental care procedures for joining a plan and visiting a participating provider within the network of the plan. These plans have been around since the early 1990’s and have enjoyed some success. Most plans offer savings on both preventive dentistry, such as regular cleaning and check-ups to other major dental care, such as crowns, root canals, dentures and braces. Some discount plans even offer substantial savings on cosmetic dentistry.

Pro’s – No restrictions, save money on every visit, see any dentist within the network nationwide, very inexpensive to join.

Con’s – You may not be able to continue seeing your current dentist, unless they take steps to become a network provider. This is very easily done, if the dentist is willing. You must pay cash at the time of your appointment. There are no claim forms and no payment plans. It’s cash in full. This can be good or bad, depending on your budget.

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is much more expensive than it used to be in the past. I’m talking about a “decent” policy, not one of these $8.00 per month things that are filled with exclusions. A decent dental insurance plan can run upwards of $100.00 per month for a family, which is extremely high. This, of course, depend upon where you live.

Pro’s – Honestly, not many. These plans are designed more for preventive dental care than they are to provide major coverage, especially in the early stages of ownership.

Con’s – They don’t cover pre-existing conditions. This means that if you already have a mouthful of cavities when you buy a plan you’re on your own. The plan won’t pay one cent. You’ll have to wait oone year before you’ll have any help at all from your insurance and even then you’ll have to pay the premiums and deductible.

Summary – I’m not biased in any way, but facts are facts. Discount dental plans win by a landslide. If you’re looking for affordable dental insurance for yourself or your family, I suggest you take a good look at a discount plan before you buy insurance. You may be doing yourself a big favor in the long run.

How to Find Affordable Dental Insurance

Finding Affordable Dental Insurance that is worth a grain of salt is a chore. You see, dental insurance is not what it used to be, not that it’s ever been a great deal in the first place. Okay, okay, I should probably let you in on why I’m bashing dental insurance so hard, right? The reason is simple. Because it’s “insurance”. You see, dental care is something that most Americans ignore until they actually have a problem. The two main reasons for this is because as Americans we tend to procrastinate and out things off that need to be taken care of and also because of the cost of seeing a dentist. Most people don’t think in a “preventive care” state of mind. Let me ask you this, when was the last time you had a physical exam? When was the last time you had a dental check-up? Here’s a good one, when was the last time you had an oil change and a tune up in your car? Some of you may be perfect but I know for a fact that there are several of you slumping in your chair right now.

The problem with dental insurance is that it does not cover any pre-existing conditions at all without a waiting period of one full year and even then, you’ll still have to pay for most of the cost. The only things that dental insurance are good for is preventive care and actual emergencies, but you’ll still have to pay the annual policy deductible and the co=pay of the plan.

Rather than continuing to waste your time trying to find affordable dental insurance, let me point you in the right direction to what you really need instead. It’s called a discount dental plan and it’s not insurance at all. These plans simply offer big discounts on most dental care, including major dental, that can save you as much as 60% at the dentist. Since it’s not insurance you don’t have to worry about any claims being denied for having a pre-existing problem when you joined the plan, among other major advantages that you’ll have. So stop trying to find affordable dental insurance and join a discount dental plan right away. You’ll never, ever pay full price for dental care again.

Affordable Health Dental Insurance – Supplemental Dental Insurance Plan

September 9, 2009 by admin

There have been many instances whereby insurances that include dental care will fail to fully support the expenses incurred for dental care of a family. These would tend to create financial problems as the family would have to spend their own money or even borrow just to cover for the expenses created by the dental care of a family member due to insufficiency of insurance coverage. For this reason, supplemental dental insurance plan was created.

The importance of verifying fully the fine prints of an insurance coverage should never be taken for granted. By verifying and fully understanding your coverage and likewise the limitations of your insurance protection, you can prepare yourself for any eventuality that might arise. If your insurance for example would include dental care as part of your coverage, it does not necessarily mean that all services related to your family?s dental care will be covered. You will have to read the fine print of the policy to know if what kind of dental care is really covered by the insurance.

The stipulation as to what dental services are not covered will also be found there. Thus, if you are already aware of the true extent of your dental coverage, you can then decide for yourself if you still need a supplemental dental insurance plan. Your decision will of course consider the dental situation of your family; whether your daughter?s set of teeth might not be in a good condition due to sweets or that maybe your son?s set of teeth might have to be subjected to braces because of its abnormal growth position.

Supplemental dental insurance plan was precisely designed by insurance companies to answer the growing needs of insured clients to make it easy for those who may have to avail a dental service without the burden of having to pay additional cash for such service. This is understandable since the dental coverage included in a regular insurance plan is complimentary in nature. As such, it is not made to cover most of the expenses that will be incurred in a dental care service.

In getting a supplemental dental insurance coverage, careful selection should be made in consideration of your foreseen dental needs. If you think there is a real need for your son to have later on a dental brace, then you can go for a supplemental dental insurance coverage for braces. Do not ever think that a supplemental dental insurance will cover for all your family?s dental care needs. Again, examine the policy. Read the fine print and know what are you covered for under the agreement.

It would be more to your advantage if before you decide on a supplemental plan, you first try a research on supplemental dental insurance plan. Researching on this subject in the internet can give you a good idea about the many supplemental dental care plans in relation to the exact coverage of the plan and the cost that you have to fork out as your monthly premium.

Following your research, visit the insurance company concerned and have them give you a sample of the policy of your intended supplemental dental care plan to get and examine it for any phrase or words that you might not fully comprehend. If there is any, ask them and be fully clarified about it. After you have fully understood the fine print, you can now start your application for the supplementary dental insurance plan that you would like to have for your family?s dental protection.

Affordable Help for Dog Dental Care Issues

We all know how expensive dog dental care can be but did you know that you can save a ton of money on your dogs dental needs by taking a few preventive measures on a regular basis.

Small breed dogs are more susceptible to dog dental care issues than the larger breed dogs. This is because small breed dogs typically eat

more soft or canned dog foods than their larger counterparts.

We all know that brushing our dogs teeth is the best way to keep their teeth healthy but I have yet to meet a dog that would willingly let their owner brush their teeth. if your dog won’t open wide for a toothbrush, don’t fret. Their are other options that are much simpler and will make both your and your dog much happier!

Be it a small breed dog or a large breed dog, their are many simple things that you can do to prevent dog dental care issues. one of the easiest is to feed your dog healthy treats such as peeled and cubed apples or baby carrots. Not only are these healthy dog treats, they are both a tremendous help in fighting plaque and other dog dental care issues.

Another great way to clean your dogs teeth is with a product by Orajel. Orajel Tooth and Gum Cleaner is made for babies but it can be used on dogs. The thing that you really want from the Orajel Tooth and Gum Cleaner is the little cleaning brush that goes over the tip of your

finger. This small cleaning brush has little ridges that clean and massage your dogs gums and this helps with the circulation in the gum area. If you can find one of these sold separately, you can use it with a bit of plain baking soda to clean your dogs teeth and gums. It is always a good idea to try this at a time that both you and your dog are relaxed.

When it comes to treating and preventing dog dental care issues, it is important to know when a problem is serious enough for a trip to the veterinarian. A tooth infection can quickly lead to more serious health problems if not treated

properly. If you notice that your dog is running a fever or not eating well, it is best to seek the help of your veterinarian to treat your dogs dental care issues promptly.
